Get Over It are practicing a new song. The song lyrics seem to be about having a crush and falling in love. After the run through, Fortissimo waves Piano and Triplet over.
Fortissimo: I kinda... need some help with this.
Triplet: Sure, what's up?
Fortissimo: I kinda need to relate to a song to sing it well and put the emotion behind it ya know? I just dont relate to this in any way.
Forte shouts from across the room.
Forte: AW, IS IT BECAUSE MY LITTLE SIS HAS NEVER BEEN IN LOVE BEFORE? AW YOU SWEET LITTLE FLOWER.
Crotchet laughs.
Fortissimo: SHUT UP, THIS CONVERSATION DOESNT INCLUDE YOU! THIS IS BETWEEN THE SINGERS AND THE LYRICIST!
Forte makes kissing sounds at Fortissimo, much to her annoyance. She pretends to choke Forte from across the room, and Forte plays along grabbing his neck and pretending to run out of breath, which makes the whole room laugh.
Piano: Is that really what it is? I'm 11 and Ive had a crush before.
Fortissimo: That really doesnt help me feel better about myself.
Piano: giggles. Okay, sorry. When I don't relate to lyrics are saying, I just try and find something else I know they do relate to. If it's about a breakup or something I haven't experienced I just try and find something in my life that would make me feel the same way I guess. Like, having to stop being friends with someone or something. It might not be the exact feeling, but it's close and the lyrics could easily relate to that.
Triplet: Pianos right. It's part of the reason I write in metaphors and dont ever seemingly tell full stories. It's so people can relate the song to what they want to. Even though it may not be that and I know what it means to me specifically, it doesn't do any harm if someone sees the song in a different way and it becomes special to them for different reasons. Try and find something to relate it to if you can.
Fortissimo: But this one is just so clearly about... ya know... like crushing on someone.
Fortissimo looks awkward and almost grimaces even thinking about it.
Triplet: I dont know why but it feels like you dont even want to talk about the topic.
Fortissimo: I just... its embarrassing okay. That I haven't ever thought of someone that way. I dunno, it's just never really been for me, I guess.
Forte shouts from across the room again.
Forte: NO, MY SISTER JUST HAS UNBELIEVABLY HIGH STANDARDS!
Fortissimo makes a motion of zipping her lips, and Forte turns back to chat to Crotchet and Viola.
Piano: I think that's fine. I mean you deserve someone who you actually like right?
Fortissimo: Well yes, but that doesn't really help the situation at hand Piano.
Piano: Maybe you can imagine someone? Like your ideal person and then the feelings that could potentially come with that? Like imagine a future with them or something.
Fortissimo: It's a good idea, but I don't really have a very vivid imagination for that sort of thing. I think Id need to experience it to understand the feeling first realistically.
Fortissimo seems to be thinking about something. Forte chirps from across the room again.
Forte: OOOOOOO, I KNOW WHO YOURE THINKING ABOUT!
Fortissimo: SHUT UP! I WAS LIKE SEVEN AND I HAVENT THOUGHT ABOUT IT SINCE THEN OKAY! BE QUIET.
Forte: YEAH THAT'S WHAT YOU SAY! BET YOUVE BEEN THINKING ABOUT IT EVERY DAY SINCE THEN!
Fortissimo: IT DOESN'T RELATE TO THIS ANYWAY! IT WAS ONLY FOR LIKE A MONTH! IM NOT USING A CRUSH WHEN I HAD WHEN I WAS SEVEN TO TRY AND RELATE TO THIS SONG.
Forte spins his finger in a circle next to his forehead, making the insinuation that Fortissimo is crazy. Fortissimo sticks her tongue out at Forte and Forte laughs.
Fortissimo: Anyway, yeah, I'm not using that situation. It doesn't make sense in the context here, and it wasn't really even a crush - just someone I wanted to spend a lot of time with.
Triplet and Piano don't seem convinced.
Triplet: Okay, sure, whatever you say.
Piano: If that makes you happy.
Fortissimo has a look of frustration on her face and Piano and Triplet notice.
Triplet: Anyway. Is there anything else in your life that you truly love? It doesn't really have to be a crush on a person. You can fall in love with anything. Like Piano said with the breakup thing. You probably use a different sort of breakup to relate to it right? Friendship or something right?
Fortissimo: Yep.
Triplet: Well, that applies here too. What's something you really like and would want to have for a really long time?
Fortissimo: The band.
Triplet: You know what - that works! Sure its not the exact feeling. But you love the band and you dont want to lose it. Conceptually, it's the same.
Piano nods enthusiastically.
Triplet: You want to give it a go?
Fortissimo: Yeah, Ill try. Thank you for helping out with this you two.
Piano: For sure! Anything for my duet partner.
Fortissimo smiles.
Triplet: Anytime. Shouts. HEY EVERYONE, GET OVER HERE, WE'RE GOING TO RUN IT THROUGH AGAIN.
Get Over It get together and start playing. Fortissimo seems far more into it, and seems to be able to put the emotion in that she wants, to many compliments after the run through.
