On this page, there's a list of all my favorite proverbs and below there's a list of all my favorite quotes, many of which had been found on the Internet, so they're likely attributed to a wrong person, but who cares? What matters to me is the message and not the mouth, which spoke the words, or the hand, which wrote down the letters.

Naturally, these collections grow, so expect changes.

Proverbs

A fool says what he knows, and a wise man knows what he says.

A hundred no's are less agonizing than one insincere yes.

A journey of thousand miles begins with a single step.

A little impatience will spoil great plans.

A man who cannot tolerate small misfortunes can never accomplish great things.

A wise man makes his own decisions, but an ignorant man mindlessly follows the crowd.

All’s well that ends well.

An empty vessel makes much noise.

As you sow, so you shall reap.

Be not afraid of growing slowly, be afraid only of standing still.

Better ask ten times than go astray once.

Better to light a candle than to curse the darkness.

Curses, like chickens, come home to roost.

Distant water does not put out a nearby fire.

Don’t cast pearls before swine.

Don’t count your chickens before they hatch.

Don’t judge a book by its cover.

Don’t kill the goose that lays the golden eggs.

Don’t put the cart before the horse.

Easy come, easy go.

Every evil has at least one good outcome.

Every man is the architect of his destiny.

Fools rush in where angels fear to tread.

Fortune favors the brave.

God helps those who help themselves.

He who can't endure the bad, will not live to see the good.

Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.

If each one sweeps before his own door, the whole street is clean.

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

If you ever need a helping hand you'll find one at the end of your arm.

If you want to find out about the road ahead, then ask about it from those coming back.

If you're healthy, you're wealthy.

It’s better to be safe than sorry.

It’s no use crying over spilt milk.

It does not require many words to speak the truth.

It takes two to make a quarrel.

Learn to walk before you run.

Let sleeping dogs lie.

Look before you leap.

Make hay while the sun shines.

Men trip not on mountains, they trip on molehills.

Necessity is the mother of invention.

Never put off until tomorrow what you can do today.

Never test the depth of water with both feet.

No news is good news.

Only dead fish go with the flow.

Out of sight, out of mind.

Patience is a bitter plant, but its fruit is sweet.

Practice makes perfect.

Ripe fruit falls by itself, but it doesn't fall in your mouth.

Rome wasn’t built in a day.

Solve one problem, and you keep a hundred others away.

Still waters run deep.

Talking comes by nature, silence by wisdom.

The harder you work, the luckier you get.

The more acquaintances you have, the less you know them.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

There is nothing more permanent than a temporary solution.

To know another is not to know the person's face, but to know the person's heart.

Two wrongs don’t make a right.

What goes around comes around.

When the going gets tough, the tough get going.

Where there’s a will, there’s a way.

Where one door shuts, another opens.
