Artifact Description:
I created this artifact for my Teaching Music Methods course, This Rubric serves as a way of evaluating students performance in a clear way. It also breaks down the score and points based on the criterias meet. It also provides an area for comments and suggestions for students ensembles growth.
Standard Connection and Reflection:
In this artifact standard section" 7J) uses assessment results to determine student performance levels, identify learning targets, select appropriate research-based instructional strategies, and implement instruction to enhance learning outcomes;", which breaks down and allows the teacher to evaluate the student and determine which level they are on and how they are practicing and preparing. It will be clear whether or not they have a clear understanding of reading the correct rhythm, tempo, beat and articulation.
Five Fat Turkeys + Xylophones
Rationale:
Artifact Description:
I created this artifact for a Thanksgiving lesson at my second placement. Using Musicplay, an online music curriculumn and lesson source. We learned this song the first class with kindergarten taught them the words, patting the beat and playing a game with the song. This taught and made the students familiar with the song. The second class students played the song playing a steady beat on the xylophone. Students performed in groups of 4, I watched the students and kept an eye for the students who were able to keep the beat and for those who needed to work on it. This provided a formative assessment.
Standard Connection and Reflection:
In this artifact standard section" 7J) uses assessment results to determine student performance levels, identify learning targets, select appropriate research-based instructional strategies, and implement instruction to enhance learning outcomes;", this artifact allowed the teacher to observe the students understanding of steady beat. This also allows the teacher to see whether or not students are able to move on to the next area. In this the kindergarten classes, were able to perform almost perfectly and showed understanding of steady beat. We did review the activity the following week to reinforce steady beat to this song.
