Flipgrip- Students Favorite Instrument
Rationale:
Artifact Description:
While working on my Flipped Project, I had to use various sources to complete and meet the Illinois Teaching standard 5. I creoke on Music Ear Training but main worked on how to develop those skills. From that presentation I created a Google Form Quiz. I was able to be creative and use sound as part of my example. My lesson was aimed towards Middle School and High School students, therefore, I decided to keep my powerpoint simple and consistent. I used audio files to show them examples of how to train their ears and what is expected of them.
Standard Connection:
In my artifact, I was teaching in order to meet the Illinois Teaching Standard, Fine Arts, middle school and high school, Anchor Standard 7: Perceive and analyze artistic work and Anchor Standard 9: Apply Criteria to evaluate artistic work, which go together. Students are expected to recall the work that they have learn such as Music Theory, Scale names and the notes related with each of those scales. The Flipped project my Technology in Education course challenged me to find a way to teach students music that was not just facts but recquired them to put their aural skills to the test. It was not a regular lecture of giving students information but teaching them how to train their ears to use what they know to build and maintain a musical ear.
Reflection:
Creating a video lesson made me realized that it is a great modification for students that have hard time understanding or simply like to go back and process certain things slower. It is a creative and helpful resource for students. It is also a great source for those last minute lesson changes to reference back to the video lessons you have already previously done. In my flipped classroom, I expected my students to discover their own way of training their years, whether it was through Chrome Music Lab, their own piano or Youtube videos. Creating another way for my students to find what works for them and the level of confidence in music that they have. Overall, by creating this artifact I am able to explore ways of using sounds and challenge my students to responde and put what they learned to the test.
Ear Training Lesson
Teaching Lesson using screencast-o-matic
Rationale:
Artifact Description:
For one of my Education courses, Technology in Education, I was recquired to create a mock google classroom. In my classroom I included: Music class room expectations, a teacher introduction, expectations and goals, a daily discussion question, and assignments. This course taught me how to use google classroom, how to grade and communicate with students (fellow classmates were my students). It also taught me how to use various teaching sources and link them to the page for students to have access.
Standard Connection and Reflection:
My google classroom was created in order to provide an online learning environment. It connects to the standards because it provides active engagement and provides positive and fun social interaction with myself and the students. It gives students and parents the ability to get an idea of how I conduct my classroom. By creating this website, it allowed me to envision how my class can be. Diving into the details of procedures, expectations, instructional styles and strategies helped me imagine how my class will be run and what type of classroom environment I would like to strive for.Overall it got me thinking about what type of classroom environment I would like to create and the allowed me to become familiar with a teacher platform used in various schools. In my second placcement, I was able to experience more with the canvas platform that they used.
