This project is an exploration of the global community and the current affairs of technology in those communities. I worked with a partner and we each chose our individual countries and after completed our respective research, we compared how these communities access and use technology. I chose to examine the country of India and my partner chose to examine the country of Benin.
India has surpassed China as the world's most populous country in the year 2023.
French is the official language of Benin's government as English is the official language of India's government, harking back to the administration of the previous colonial governments.
Population of both countries are very young with median age in Benin being 18 and the median age in India being at 25.
This is a collaborative assignment from me and my classmate. It's a presentation highlighting, comparing, and contrasting the digital infrastructure of India and Benin
This is reporting detailing the findings of the research that set the background knowledge for the India portion of the presentation, which I worked on with my classmate.
The biggest lesson that I learned, is even in the developing world, the internet is still pretty prevalent. Although, their digital infrastructure isn't as comprehensive as their industrialized counterparts, both places have at a minimum complete access to 2G mobile phone service. One thread of similarity between India and Benin, as is probably true with most of the developing world, is the disparity of internet access between urban and rural areas. Both countries strategies for addressing that is to incorporate banking systems into their mobile networks, which will permit increased levels of commerce activities and by extension further development of their digital infrastructure. Provided just how young the median age of both counties are, and the already existing infrastructure, it's probably likely that most of the developing world has already achieved a majority digital native status.
