This unit is an orientation and introduction to Information Systems. When I started Unit 0, I thought it was going to be information that I had already known and would deem redundant, but I've actually learned quite a bit. Even when you think you're pretty decent at writing scripts for the office you used to work at, there are still things you can learn by returning to the basics.
Lesson Topics:
Computer Interfaces
Learning Management Systems
Email Client features and functions
One thing I've always known, but never knew how to utilize was the rules for email messages. This is actually my first class at CCBC, so I was unaware of the number of no-reply generated receipt emails you get in the box. One part of the assignments was creating rules and folders, which I did not only because it was the assignment, but simultaneously has the added benefit of keeping my school email inbox clear.
Unit 0 made me realize that even when you think you're very proficient with computers, going and reviewing the basics allows you to reinforce key concepts, while still learning new things.Â
