Hi everybody!! My name is Andrew and I am a new student at CCBC. I'm currently enrolled in this class, as well as Accounting 101 in order to fulfill my prerequisites for the Mortuary Science Program in the Fall. While these classes are not the main focus of my studies, I intend to make the most of them, and learn as much as possible. My career goals is to become the best mortician I can possibly be.
His name is Skipper and he's a good boy. He loves going for walks, eating pieces of fruit, and getting his belly rubbed!!
I like to plop down here after doing yard work.Â
This accelerated course was designed for students to build a foundation in computing, but I did learn a lot. I've been using Word and PowerPoint for several decades at this point, but I had no idea of the functionalities that were at my disposal. In my undergraduate and graduate education, I always dreaded the works cited portion of the assignments and would spend at least an hour referencing the Owl of Purdue or other academic sites telling me how to format sources, and would fuss about over placements of quotation marks or periods. During one of our lessons, the professor was telling us about the time she was looking at an economist's PowerPoint presentation and how bland and uninteresting it was. I thought this story was hilarious because it is true. When I was in graduate school pursuing an international affairs degree, (economics adjacent) this was exactly what we were told. I distinctly remember group presentation where a partner would enhance submit slides and we would have to walk it back. I honestly don't know why this is the case, (maybe to avoid cultural ambiguity for an international audience?) but it was interesting to learn how to properly use smart art, styles, and make the presentations not look so damn boring.
