Standard 9 - Professionalism, Leadership, and Advocacy:
The competent teacher is an ethical and reflective practitioner who exhibits professionalism; provides leadership in the learning community; and advocates for students, parents or guardians, and the profession.
I previously worked at several daycares before becoming a student teacher. In order to become an official daycare provider, I needed to undergo several different types of training such as becoming a Mandated Reporter, CPR certified, SIDS training, and Trauma Informed Practice. I also have a certification with shaken baby syndrome as well.
Minus the awful misspell of my last name that I didn't realize until now, I have completed becoming a mandated reporter. This is a mandatory training course that every teacher, whether you're at a daycare or a school, has to take. This will help me recognize a child who in the need of aid if any abuse is taking place. I will be able to act and react and perform the necessary procedures to provide aid to the child in need.
Another certificate showcasing my First-Aid/CPR/AED training. This is useful to have, especially as an Art Teacher working with young students. In case a situation were to arrive where a child has injured themselves in my classroom, I will be able to help identify the issue and help the child in that situation based on the training I received.
All throughout my time at Trinity Christian College, I managed to make the Dean's List every semester. First time in my life that I managed to accomplish every semester making this list and I am very proud of doing so.
Differentiation Strategies:
This was Simmons Middle School's IEP Plan for the Art Class, I have worked with various students in the past that has an IEP/504. I also have a sister-in-law who is severe Autistic and non-verbal. I help to make sure these students have what they need in my class and help them in any way that I possibly can.
Every Monday before school began, my co-op would show me her planner that showcased what we'd be doing throughout the week and help me build off my lessons from there.
We would often improvise if we finished a project early, and tweak our projects if they start to drag out longer than they should. My co-op always told me to expect the unexpected and the unexpected did happen quite a lot.
This organization she has is also like me. I am a huge organizer and I believe that Art is definitely a subject that needs the most organization.
These are some works that I created with the kids at the daycares that I worked at. These projects helped my Artistic ability grow, as well as helped my experience working with children even more. Despite that the students I did these projects with were very young, it helped me establish my ground as an educator. It was also a way to help learn how to prevent messes because two-year-olds absolutely love to finger paint!
