Standard 5 - Instructional Delivery:
The competent teacher differentiates instruction by using a variety of strategies that support critical and creative thinking, problem-solving, and continuous growth and learning. This teacher understands that the classroom is a dynamic environment requiring ongoing modification of instruction to enhance learning for each student,
In front of the class stands the demo desk where I project what I do for demos to the class. They watch what I am doing via the TV right beside me. I have all my materials I need for the project on the desk as well, and I prep the materials in the same manner as it is on their desks.
I find this method extremely helpful when I know that all that I am presenting is featured on the TV. I don't have my back turned to the class whatsoever when I am presenting and know that I have the class' fullest attention when I am teaching at this desk.
The project that I am presenting here is printmaking with gelli plates.
During the middle of our Technical/Exploratory projects, on the board are hung pictures of past projects to help students gain ideas for their own, to get inspired, or just to aid if they're stuck.
What is great about this is that we do have students that come up from time to time and look at the work that we have hanging here. They stay for a good period of time, trying to get an idea running through and then be heavily influenced to do their project. What they create is astonishing all because a past student gave them the creative idea that they needed.
Of course, with every teacher comes the lesson plans! While Trinity provided me a template of their Lesson Plans, my co-op also provided me one of hers. I have used both templates as a way to fill out my lesson plans.
