Overview
At my middle, high school and community college field sites, I was able to experience supporting students' academic development as a whole group and individuals.
As for the whole group, I gave classroom presentations on the A-G and high school graduation requirements as well as the different postsecondary options available to students. Additionally, I provided Study Tip presentations for students who would attend our tutoring services afterschool. These study tips were created to best support them in learning to advocate for themselves whether it be showing up to their teacher's office hours or learning how to take effective notes. At the individual level, I conducted academic intervention meetings with about 25 high school sohphomores. In these meetings, we discussed transcripts, barriers to learning, and created academic plans to identify strengths and promote student success.
I also participated in meetings such as COST, Individual Education Plan (IEP), and 504 meetings. During these sessions, we discussed the needs of each student and strategized on how to ensure that everyone receives an equitable opportunity for learning.
