Medicine Interest Group - President

In late 2022, I was given the honour to serve as the President of St Andrew's Medicine Interest Group. SAMIG is a "by SAINTS for SAINTS initiative" that aims to bridge the gap between JC and medical school applications.  I hope that our efforts can help more and more SAINTS pursue medicine in the many years to come.

St. Andrew's Community Hospital: Work Shadowing Programme

From 21st November to 2nd December, I worked at St. Andrew's Community Hospital as an Occupational Therapy intern. In summary, this involved shadowing an Occupational Therapist in their day-to-day jobs. I learned how patients' care is delivered in a Rehabilitation setting, and attended multi-disciplinary discussions on patients' progress and discharge planning under my Occupational Therapist mentors.

The details are attached in the report below.

Occupational Therapy Talk

I found this talk especially useful because at that time, I would be interning at the St. Andrews Community Hospital as an Occupational Therapist two weeks from then. I found it very inspiring that Occupational Therapists treat patients in a holistic manner, paying attention to many other aspects apart from physical health. They deal with aspects outside the traditional "medicine" and introduce treatments such as Universal cuffs to assist in eating to improve the quality of life of patients. I appreciated the speaker's sharing about his experience as an Occupational Therapy Student and I was very excited to see the daily routine of Occupational Therapists at the Hospital for myself.
