Project Description
To demonstrate my understanding of digital literacy, I was tasked with making a presentation using my application software knowledge and collaboration skills. The purpose of the presentation was to research two global locations' demographics and technology availability. We were put into groups of two to enhance collaboration while comparing/contrasting the two locations we selected.
Locations Selected:
I selected Japan for my location!
My partner, Hodan H., selected Maldives!
Japan's population is surprisingly made up of older people. The largest age demographic are people ages 40-67.
Internet access is very limited, but most luxury hotels and urban areas in the Capital have internet access. Internet access can also be restricted in certain areas.
Our presentation is over to the left!
Lessons Learned
This project put my creative skills to the test. I was used to making PowerPoints that had me deliver all of my research. This project wanted to challenge students' ability to use PowerPoint creatively. I struggled with coming up with semi-creative ways to represent the data, but luckily this project required collaboration. My partner and I communicated virtually and worked together in PowerPoint using OneDrive share features to find ways to represent the most interesting aspects of our data. This project taught me that collaboration can help people understand and problem-solve in ways that aren't possible without collaboration. My partner was very quick to come up with different ways to represent the data in ways I wouldn't have come up with, which emphasized the importance of teamwork to me.
