For this annotated list, I read through many peer-reviewed papers to learn about research studies and results. I give a description and summary of the study as well as a reflection on how the information in each paper could inform the way I would teach literacy across multiple disciplines.
This annotated list relates to IPTS standard 2D which says that the competent teacher "understands the relationship of knowledge within the disciplines to other content areas and to life applications." This list demonstrates my reading of research into a variety of disciplines. It shows that I have begun learning and researching the different contexts that my students will learn in.
When teaching special education, I will be focusing in a range of disciplines. It is important to me to be able to teach special education students how to read in each discipline that they encounter. There is different set of academic language used in every discipline. It can be more difficult for some students to acquire this diverse language than others. In this paper, I learned about various disciplines and some studies that could help me serve my students best, knowing that I will need to meet them in a lot of different subjects and grade levels.Â
This group presentation looks through the various aspects of the Google platform and what accessible features it offers. Along with some of my peers, I researched the ways that Google platforms provide accessible technology in our homes, schools and communities, and for entertainment purposes. For each category, we expanded in our presentation on the ways that these platforms were accessible and the features they offer.
This connects to IPTS standard 2O which states that the competent teacher "designs learning experiences and utilizes assistive technology and digital tools to provide access to general curricular content to individuals with disabilities." This presentation guided me to learn more about the technologies available to me and their accessible features. I have been able to use some of them as a teacher to offer services to students with and without disabilities in my classroom.
Through this presentation and study, I learned about a lot of new features in Google. I have personally used some of these for my own benefit when doing academic work or for just navigating through life. I learned that there are a lot more features available to me than I ever would have thought in the first place. I will be able to implement these in Google in future classrooms or know to look for similar features in other platforms as well.
