"Critical thinking has the power to launch students on unforgettable learning experiences."
-Elena Quagliarello
Critical thinking is such an important step in students becoming innovative and creative thinkers. Teaching creative thinking in a classroom will allow students to be prepared in and out of school. I think one of the most important parts of being a teacher is being able to give students knowledge to take outside of the classroom. Creative thinking is a skill that is necessary to grow and be successful for the rest of your life. Teaching this to kids at a young them will help them be innovative and independent far from the classroom. One of the greatest lessons critical thinking teaches you is problem-solving, which will be a part of everyone's lives forever.
More about what I believe can be found on my Philosophy of education page, where I go more into depth about different factor of being a teacher and what is important.
Science is a great and interactive subject to spark critical thinking in students. I created a sink and float lesson plan as an inquiry-based lesson to teach students about buoyancy and how density affects it. This is a hands-on lesson that makes students critically think about whether objects will sink or float and test their predictions.
