Bedford apparently tried to make a 6x6 TM, to compete with the Alvis Stalwart.
The Alvis Stalwart uses a Punt hull, of which the suspension and drive attaches to the sold side plates.
The design of the hull and suspension allows the whole 14 - 15 tons of weight to happily balance on the centre wheel.
The TM trial used a standard ladder chassis. It is reported that the chassis twisted.
MERLIN shows that some of these were disposed of as late as January 2000.
This privately owned one has been changed into an Artic unit, to work on a farm.
