Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) is the student leadership organization for Family and Consumer Sciences with over 180,000 affiliated members.
As a seventh-grader, Ella was elected to serve as a state officer on the NC FCCLA State Executive Council.
She was the 2021-2022 State Vice President of Community Outreach. Her election was held in April as part of the North Carolina FCCLA State Leadership Conference, held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ella's chapter advisers (Mrs. Price and FCS student teacher Ms. Bromenschenkel from Meredith College) gave her a bouquet of our organization's official flower, the red rose, on the day of her installation.
A rose gives joy through its beauty and fragrance!
She was one of three North Carolina Family and Consumer Sciences students representing over 3,600 affiliated FCCLA members in 72 middle and high school chapters.
Ella's state officer candidate application required a resume, two essays, completion of the Power of One program, and a high GPA. You can watch her state officer candidate speech in the video above!
She was asked to creatively address the following topic in <3 minutes:
Through the many virtual opportunities provided this year by FCCLA, members have been able to compete, learn more about the organization, and find ways to serve their family, career, and community. How has your involvement in FCCLA this year, and years prior, helped you grow "Beyond Measure" as a student leader?
Congratulations, Ella! In-person students, teachers, and all of our assistant principals signed a congratulatory banner for Ella!
The installation of the 2021-2022 State Executive Council was virtual.
