The West Cary Middle School Family and Consumer Sciences program earned a "Gold" FCCLA chapter designation as we "Go for the Red"! We are so proud of the skills and confidence our FCS student leadership organization teaches our members.
Students have the opportunity to learn about different types of dress and then create work outfits for a variety of different careers (e.g. veterinarian, plumber, game designer, real estate agent, financial advisor, preschool teacher, off-shore oil pump operator, head chef, personal trainer, hair stylist, software developer, aircraft pilot.)
When you #SayYesToFCS, students have the opportunity to:
set and achieve goals that make a positive difference in their own lives and help improve our school and community,
explore food, math, and science through edible explorations and hands-on activities (such as our school garden and cooking labs),
become certified through Everfi, NC eFoodHandler, and/or the American Red Cross (ARC) Babysitter's Program,
have fun learning about:
Social and Emotional Skills
Careers
Early Childhood Education
Nutrition and Wellness
Food Service and Hospitality
Personal Finance
Apparel and Interior Design
The West Cary Middle School FCCLA chapter wrote a positive note for each student in the building as part of their campaign to #SpreadTheLove and #MakeItStick! Members placed the handwritten notes on lockers after school so everyone found their own unique message the next morning. They could leave it there or move the sticky to a notebook or share it with a friend or teacher!
