Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) is the student leadership organization for Family and Consumer Sciences.
Riya, a seventh-grader, was elected to serve as a state officer on the NC FCCLA State Executive Council (SEC). She was the 2022-2023 North Carolina State Vice President of Public Relations. Her election was held in April as part of the North Carolina FCCLA State Leadership Conference. Riya's chapter adviser, Mrs. Price, and state adviser, Mrs. Lewis, were so proud of how she represented middle school students as the only middle schooler on the SEC.

She was one of four North Carolina Family and Consumer Sciences students representing over 3,600 affiliated FCCLA members in 72 middle and high school chapters.
