Facilitator: Educators facilitate learning with technology to support student achievement of the ISTE Standards for Students
For this assignment, I was able to transform a traditional paper test into a brand-new assessment. This assessment will test the knowledge of students outside of the traditional true/false, short answer, or multiple choice assessment. For my assessment, I took information from a science test provided by our teacher and turned it into a demonstration-type project. In this type of assessment, students will be able to ask a question, form an answer to the question, test out the answer, and provide an explanation for the final result. This assignment aligns with ISTE standard 2.6c, as it challenges students to use a design process and computational thinking.
My grandma, Ruth Arsenault, was a 1st-grade teacher for twenty years. She taught in a one-room schoolhouse, and to this day is continuously teaching others new things. Although technology was not nearly as widely used in the classroom when she taught as it is today, she always pushed her students to try new technological platforms. As my grandma, she was no different. She would tell us about new learning tools she read about, and would tell us to try them out and present our findings and papers to her and my grandpa. She was always teaching, no matter the time. She wanted everyone around her to advance in all areas of knowledge, but especially in their advancement of new educational technology resources.
