A discount code and a new phone both have to land in the right order. Airalo sells prepaid data from local operators as eSIM profiles, and the profile has to live on a device that supports eSIM and is carrier-unlocked. If you are switching handsets in the weeks before a trip, the sensible sequence is: settle the phone first, confirm it accepts eSIMs, then spend the code. EDCC10 takes 10% off the plan price at checkout, and codes on this kind of platform are typically single-use per account, so it is not a thing you want to burn on the wrong device.
Before buying anything, check that the incoming handset can take a third-party eSIM profile. Compatible devices generally include iPhones from the XS generation onwards, recent Google Pixels, and Samsung Galaxy S and Z flagships, and Airalo publishes a compatible device list on its site. Carrier-locked phones may refuse third-party profiles, which is the failure mode that catches people who have just taken a handset on contract. None of this is affected by the discount: the 10% comes off the plan price shown in the store and nothing else.
An Airalo account is required in practice, because eSIMs are reinstalled and topped up from it. Sign-up is available by email, Google or Apple sign-in, and purchased eSIMs appear under My eSIMs. Signing into the same account on the new handset is what keeps your purchase reachable. Two practical notes:
Do not open a second account just because the phone is new. Duplicate accounts created to reuse a single-use voucher breach retailer terms and risk the accounts.
Whether EDCC10 is single-use per account or reusable on later orders is not published externally, as is whether it applies to first purchases only. Treat it as one shot until the checkout screen shows otherwise.
If the new phone has not arrived yet, there is no strong reason to buy early. Plan validity generally starts when the eSIM first connects to a network at the destination rather than at purchase, though some articles state installation instead, so the plan detail page is worth reading. What matters more is that the code must be applied before payment; it cannot be added retroactively to a completed order, and there is no reliable way to get 10% credited back after paying full price. Buying once the handset is in your hand avoids installing a profile on a device you are about to retire.
Sign in to your existing Airalo account at airalo.com or in the app on the new phone.
Search the destination, open the plan and confirm the data allowance and validity window.
Tap Buy Now to reach the order summary or payment screen.
Expand the promo code row — a tappable row with a tag or ticket icon above the total in the app, a text box in the order summary panel on the web — and enter EDCC10 exactly, with no spaces.
Apply it and check a discount line appears and the total falls by 10%. Assume one code per order and no stacking with other offers or active sales.
Pay by card or wallet; payment methods include cards and, by region, Apple Pay, Google Pay and PayPal. The receipt is emailed.
Open My eSIMs and install by direct install or QR code and SM-DP+ address, over home Wi-Fi, since installation needs an internet connection.
Keep the Airalo line switched off until you land, then select it and enable Data Roaming for that line only. If there is no signal, toggle airplane mode or manually select a partner network. Later top-ups are bought from My eSIMs rather than by buying a new profile, and eligibility of top-ups for a code can differ, so watch whether the total actually changes. Refunds on a discounted order return the amount paid, not the pre-discount price, and the voucher does not return with it.
