Airalo has an in-app referral scheme of its own: existing users share an invite, and credit goes to both sides. That credit is separate from a typed promotional code such as EDCC10, which applies a 10% discount to the plan price shown in the store. Both reduce what you pay, but they reach the order in different ways and appear in different places on the payment screen, so it is worth knowing which one you are actually using.
The short version: referral credit behaves like a balance attached to your Airalo account, while EDCC10 is a string you type into the promo code field before you pay. Nothing in the published information promises that the two combine, and Airalo does not state externally whether they stack. The payment screen is where you find out, because the total either moves or it does not.
After you sign in, search the destination, open a plan and press Buy Now, you land on the order summary or payment screen. On the web, the promo code field is a text box in the order summary panel. In the app it is a tappable row marked with a tag or ticket icon, sitting above the total. That row is where EDCC10 goes, entered exactly as written with no spaces.
Account credit, whether it comes from Airalo's referral scheme or from store credit you bought, is applied from the same payment area but as a balance rather than a typed code. Whether loyalty or referral credit can be combined with a promotional code in one transaction is shown on the payment screen when you try it: apply the code, watch for a discount line, then see whether the credit still reduces the remaining total.
Create or sign in to your Airalo account before you start the purchase.
Open the plan you want and confirm its data allowance and validity window.
Press Buy Now to reach the order summary.
Expand the promo code row and enter EDCC10, then apply it.
Check that a discount line appears and the total drops by 10%.
Only then look at whether available credit is still being deducted from the reduced total.
Pay by card or wallet; a receipt is emailed and the eSIM appears under My eSIMs.
Applying the code first makes the arithmetic easier to read. If the total falls by 10% and the credit still comes off afterwards, both worked. If applying one removes the other, the screen tells you before you commit.
Neither route alters the plan itself. The 10% comes off the price shown in the store, not off the data allowance or the validity window. Unused data does not roll over when validity ends. Plan validity generally starts when the eSIM first connects to a network at the destination rather than at purchase, and most Airalo packages are data-only, with no local number or traditional SMS unless the plan detail page says otherwise.
Bank foreign transaction fees and exchange rates sit outside checkout and are not reduced by a code or by credit. And a code cannot be added after the fact: there is no reliable way to have 10% credited back once you have paid full price.
Several points are simply not published externally for EDCC10: its expiry date, whether it is single-use per account or reusable on later orders, whether it covers repeat purchases as well as first ones, whether top-ups count as eligible orders, and whether a minimum order value applies. Codes on the platform are typically single-use per account, and the safe working assumption is one code per order with no stacking against other offers or active sales. Eligibility on top-ups and on credit or gift-card purchases can differ, so verify that the total actually changes.
One boundary is firm either way. Making duplicate accounts to reuse a single-use voucher breaches retailer terms and risks the accounts, so if the code has already been used on your account, the referral credit route is the one left to you rather than a second sign-up.
