The District of Columbia, Maryland and northern Virginia region, known locally as the DMV, is home to the United States Federal Government, hundreds of national and specialist museums, archives, galleries and libraries, numerous historic sites and cultural spaces, and several top research universities. A DMV AI4lAM chapter is a venue to bring together professionals and communities with overlapping interests, challenges and opportunities in implementing AI in their contexts. The chapter seeks to:
Contribute use cases and frameworks for responsible AI that are compliant to U.S. Federal regulations.
Develop best practices for understanding, evaluating and implementing AI in the Government + LAM sectors.
Apply knowledge, experience and lessons learned to the assessment of AI in contexts prioritizing trust, fairness and authenticity.
Encourage diverse and cross-sector collaboration, highlighting the potential of government, library, archive and museum data for responsible AI.
Support AI4LAM events in the DMV area.
