Suggested uses:
Compose pieces with AI-generated melodies
Explore the style of folk songs
Lesson plans:

Artificial Intelligence and FolkRNN: FolkRNN uses artificial intelligence that was trained on a database of Irish folk songs to be able to create new folk song melodies. RNN stands for recurrent neural network, a type of AI that in this case, is able to consider notes that come before each note it composes to make the melodies make sense.
Tips: Sometimes FolkRNN can be slow in composing. If it doesn't seem to be working, you might try refreshing the page and hitting "Compose" again.
Background: FolkRNN was created by Bob Sturm, Oded Ben-Tal, and Toby Harris in 2017. It was created to be used as a compositional tool alongside human composers (not to replace them). The project was funded by UK Research & Innovation and was designed to explore ways artificial intelligence can benefit music, including helping composers to get started when dealing with writer's block, allowing performers to consider their relationship with technology, and helping students learn about music and creativity.
