Thailand's late Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej founded the Distance Learning Foundation of Thailand (DLF) in 1995, which is part of the Royal Initiative “Distance Learning via Satellite”, an initiative focused on raising the quality of education at rural schools in Thailand. Wang Klai Kang Won School in Hua Hin, is used to broadcast classes via seven channels to students in rural areas, which allows children to access quality teaching of English, mathematics, science and Thai through e-learning and videos.
This Distance Learning enables teachers and students to communicate through phone, fax and conference systems and is available to schools not only in Thailand, but Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam, China and Malaysia.
This is another reason why EDF focuses on developing technology in rural schools, so that they can access this Distance Learning.
