This journal is a reflection of all of my hard work over the past ten weeks. My learning for this unit started on campus and then we transitioned to remote learning. This journal helped guide my work along the way. I am most proud of the research I completed and how I incorporated outdoor learning and action with my family. I had some great inquiries that helped me understand the complex issue of conserving and protecting manatees. . I’m proud that the timeline shows my dedication and perseverance with learning new information and coming to new understandings. I still have a lot more questions to explore and wonder if I can maintain my action of reducing plastic consumption over my holidays. I’ve gained so many skills throughout this process and I’m proud that this shows through this personal journal.

Ms. Karin Steiner - Life in Ethiopia through Another’s Eyes
I listened to many presentations, but I was really inspired by Mrs. Karin Steiner. She is a parent of a Y9 student and also on our ICS Board of Directors.
The message that I learned was how powerful small actions can be and that if everyone works together, we can create change. For example, she is a member of the Diplomatic Spouses Group of Ethiopia (DSGE), and together this organization supports more than 36 different local organizations each year. They raise money with the annual Christmas Bazaar, and then distribute this money to fund local people to run businesses.
I wish that I was part of such an organisation and it made me wonder more about ICS could help me take action to help Ethiopia more.
My Passion Panel conference <INSERT DATE>
I was lucky enough to meet with _<insert name> to share my top 3 ideas and passions for my Exhibition. My top 3 ideas were <insert ideas>.
This really helped me to think more about what I wanted to inquire into, and what potential action I could take. One thing that I really learned from this conference was <insert what you learned>.
You can either insert your Essential agreement here as:
A JPEG from your Student Planner Sliders (File/ Download as JPEG) and then upload as an Image
A JPEG from your Essential Agreement Jamboard
FINDING OUT, SORTING OUT & GOING FURTHER
We shared our ideas of action that we could take with grade 5 on an Action Brainstorm Jamboard. We were originally thinking of making a video to raise awareness, but after communicating our ideas with our Exhibition teacher and collaborative group, we realized that we were all very creative - Mr. Pascoe musically (he plays a guitar!), Ms. Jone is a formidable, Snap Chat dancer, while Ms. Kim just wants to take action.
So decided to do this following:
