I am deeply passionate about sustainability and the transformative power of quality education in driving systemic change for a fair and just world. Every day, I strive to embody the change we need, inspiring others to make meaningful contributions toward a better future.
Through this site, I aim to share my educational philosophy and showcase the skills and experience I can bring to enrich your school community.
My passion for making a difference in people’s lives and helping them reach their full potential began over 20 years ago. I started as a Disability Support Worker, later earning a Bachelor of Youth Work, where I supported young people in confronting social challenges. Throughout my career, I have been drawn to education and empowerment, driven by the belief that everyone can make positive life choices, no matter the adversity.
After spending over 10 years living and teaching overseas—two years in Vietnam, four in Taiwan, three in Thailand, two in Korea, and two in Ethiopia—I returned to Australia two years ago with my two children, both of whom have now completed high school. With this chapter behind me, I am eager to return to international teaching.
I strive to empower my students to stand tall with integrity, compassion, and humility, fostering a sense of unity and connection. Together, we share a vision to develop children with empathy and a commitment to making a positive impact on the world. Sustainability requires us to connect as a global community—future-oriented and aware of how our actions affect others.
In my classroom, I focus on the positives and nurture collaborative growth. I celebrate effort, creativity, resourcefulness, persistence, and acts of kindness. Inspired by the IB Mission Statement to create a better, more peaceful world, I am proud to be an agent of change.
For students to become true agents of change, they need knowledge, 21st-century skills, curiosity, and passion to take meaningful action. They must understand their interdependence with others, connect with nature, and recognize the power of their actions to make a positive impact.
My teaching places students at the center—their passions, diversity, creativity, and well-being guide our learning journey. If we want students to care about global issues, we must nurture their sense of global citizenship. Central to this is cultivating an entrepreneurial spark—a state of curiosity and exploration that drives creativity and inquiry. This entrepreneurial mindset is essential for developing innovative ideas and sustainable solutions in a world with finite resources.
Learning must extend beyond the classroom, into the school and the broader community. Engaging with primary sources and real-world experiences heightens student engagement and fosters deeper connections.
Every small action matters. When combined, those actions can change the world. :)
