If you're facing problems or issues with your host family, contact person, school etc. we hope this information can guide you in what to do.
If you face problems or issues with your host family, the best will be to start having a talk with the host family. We are aware such a talk can be difficult, as you might be affraid of critizising or hurting them. If you are afraid of doing such a talk yourself, you are welcome to contact us and we can sit down together having a talk with the host family.
If a talk with the host family isn't helping, AFS Aalborg will have a talk with the host family. Often it is caused in misunderstandings due to cultural differencies or language barriers.
If a talk with your host family doesn't solve the problem, it is important to reach out to AFS Aalborg as soon as possible, but give them a chance to change their ways.
If you face problems or issues in your contact or relations with your AFS contact person, you must contact AFS Aalborg immediately. We will find another contact person for you.
If you face problems or issues with your teachers or school, start by having a talk with your host family. The problems or issues could be caused due to cultural differences, and they will be able to explain what it's all about.
Your host family can also have a talk with the school to find out what the reason is from the school's point of view. If this doesn't help, your host family is informed on what to do.
Minor isssues or questions: Contact your assigned Contact Person from AFS. If you are an Efterskole Student at Ranum, contact Birthe Petersen at the Administration of the school. If any of these can't help or guide you, they will refer it to the AFS Aalborg board.
Larger problems:
Exchange Students: Contact the AFS Aalborg Host Coordinator or President of AFS Aalborg.
ESC Volunteers: Contact AFS Aalborg 18+ Coordinator.
If AFS Aalborg can't solve the problem, we will direct it to AFS Denmark Support.
