You are mandatory to be active and participating in lessons at your school.
If your class is traveling, and you are staying back home, make sure to contact your teacher or school administration for what you are going to do meanwhile. If you just stay home, you will be registred for illigal absence.
If you wish to or need to do travels, except from AFS Camps and trips with your school, you need to fill out a travel permission. Read more about that here.
As Exchange Student you are NOT allowed to drive motor vehicles. Not even if you have driver's licens in your home country.
What is considered a motor vehicle? Any vehicles where an engine is the primarily power source.
This will be:
Trucks and busses
Cars
Motor cycles
Mopeds
Electric scooters
Go Carts
Electric bikes are equiped with an assisting engine. The main power source is you, and it's therefore not considered a motor vehicle.
There can be made exceptions in special cases, like if your school or Host Family decide to visit a go cart center. You must contact AFS Denmark two weeks prior to ask for permission. Contact: support@afs.org.
This is not a rule, but a good advice. If you want to go out one night, make sure your Host Family is informed. Respect the time they say you must be back home. If you are late for your bus or train, or it doesn't show up, make sure to call your Host Family and notify them when the next departure is, and what time you will be back home instead. It is expected you do what's in your power to keep the appointment. Violation of this can cause big troubles with your Host Family.
If you're sick or ill, you are sick or ill. Anyone in Denmark will respect that.
If you're in need of medical care, don't hesitate asking your Host Family for assistance to contact the doctor. Medical Care is free in Denmark, and it's not an economic burden to your Host Family.
Exchange Students are not allowed to drink alcohol or alcoholic beverages according to AFS rules.
That said, Denmark has an alcohol culture where even young people drink beers and other alcoholic beverages at parties. You are also here as exchange student to experience the Danish culture. AFS Aalborg recommend you talk with your Host Family if you are going to a party at your school or friends house, how much you will be allowed to drink, if you wish to. Make sure to respect the limit they make.
It is not allowed to impregnate or become pregnant during your exchange stay.
