Previous Consultant Services (Partial Listing)

Ms. Afrika Abney has provided photography services for numerous events that took place in the past hosted by Esther Productions, Inc, BZB International and the Malcolm X Drummers and Dancers. 

Ms. Afrika Abney attended Bell from 1991-1993. She graduated in 1993 and was 16 at that time. Years later, Ms. Abney donated the painting shown in the above photo. Additionally, she gave away the clothing articles and jewelry shown in the photo above.

Ms. Abney's art teacher when she was a student was Mr. Jorge Somarriba. 


While, Ms. Abney was a high school student, she was invited to participate in the Congresswoman's Art Competition which took place in 1992 and 1993. During that time, she became a consultant.   

Some of Ms. Afrika Abney's previous consultant services include photography, post card dissemination, and programming.

PHOTOGRAPHY 


Ms. Afrika Abney has provided photography services for numerous events that took place in the past hosted by Esther Productions, Inc, BZB International and the Malcolm X Drummers and Dancers. ​




On March 5, 2020, Ms. Afrika Abney went to New York Avenue Presbyterian Church to disseminate some postcards.  She threw this jacket away shown in the above photo away several years ago. 

POST CARD DISSEMINATION



Ms. Afrika Abney has over 20 years of experiences in postcard dissemination. She recently disseminated several post cards that announced the recent release of Discover Me.. Without You, a book published by Jonetta Rose Barras and Esther Productions, Inc. Edited by Jonetta Rose Barras at the New York Avenue Presbyterian Church on March 5, 2020. 


Ms. Abney has not disseminated any postcards in person since March 5, 2020.









PROGRAMMING


Ms. Afrika Abney provided programming services for the Malcolm X Drummers, Esther Productions, Inc, DC Department of Parks and Recreation Center. 


PROGRAM ADMINISTRATION. Malcolm X Drummers and Dancers and Esther Productions, Inc, Washington, D.C.. Responsible for hosting, setting up tables, clean up, interior decorating, stage designing, and recruiting participants. Sounds of Hope at Potter's House (2012), The Gift (October 2015; October 2016, and October 21, 2017); Building Family in the 21st Century (June 2016); Painting Your Future Bright: A Sip and Paint for Girls Ages 13 - 17 (March 16, 2019); and PaintSpiration: An Interactive Workshop designed for girls ages 13 through 17 (May 4, 2019).


PROGRAM COORDINATOR. Esther Productions, Inc., Washington D.C.. November 2004 - March 2006. Designed and implemented community outreach programs for Esther Productions, Inc.. This involved developing program objectives, identifying potential audience, and developing outreach campaigns for the targeted population. With Esther Productions, Inc also helped create in school - programs that focused on middle school girls growing without their fathers.


PROGRAM MONITOR/ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT. DC Department of Parks and Recreation, Washington, DC. 2001 - 2001. Responsible for oversight of the Summer Arts Program. Duties also included maintenance of the database and general administration.
