Consultant Strategies

There are many consultant strategies that Ms. Afrika Abney uses in providing services as a consultant. For example, when she provided services for AACL events launched by Esther Productions Inc in partnership with The Black Student Fund, The Institute for African American Writing, Teaching for Change, Social Justice Books, Buck Wild Media, and Lesa Warrick, she conducted extensive research.

"The themes and issues explored in African American literature are the role of African Americans within the larger American society, African – American culture, racism, slavery, and equality. The main characteristics of African literature include oral tradition, folktales, slave narratives, and the African novel. They can vary from one African nation to the next, as each one has a unique set of values and history. African literature is defined as literary works of the African continent.

African literature consists of a body of work written in many languages and encompasses various genres, ranging from oral literature to literature written in colonial languages (“African Literature”)."

Ms. Abney broke each issue down and began to promote each event. The flyers below were sent to schools, colleges, universities, student groups, community organizations, youth and parent groups in Washington, DC, Maryland and Virginia.
