AGENDA
Pre-meeting reception
1) Welcome to AERA SIG Community Meeting and overview of the session.
2) Community Introductions--Who we are, and our interest in action research
3) Reports from Officers
4) Community Share Activity:
Instead of going out to the local community, as we did last year, the planning
for this year is to engage the community in an activity to create a shared
understanding of Action Research. Last year, we discussed the problems of
not have a shared definition of action research. So we are working on a process
to create a definition of action research to place on the AERA website (here).
Over the year, the community share committee, headed by Lonnie Rowell with
Elena Polush and Margaret Riel as members have been conducting a Delphi
study as a process to create shared understanding about the essence of Action
Research.
We are bringing this activity to the community meeting so that all us will have
a chance to influence the formation of our collective statement about action
research. The goal is create a statement characterizing action research.
5) Formation and Appointment of Committees
We need a new election chair and few other officers which can be appointed
by the chair. We also need some committees and innovative ideas to use
our shared resources. We will also need volunteers for reviewing the papers
for next year.
6) Moving Forward:
We end with meeting with thanks to the existing Leaders, and the handoff of
the leadership to the new leaders and then more reception.
