Use the stickleback evolution model to explore the impact of mutation and predation on the changes in stickleback lateral plate morphs (LPM) over time. Open an online data sheet (you will be asked to make a copy of the datasheet). 

Procedures:

1. Set up the model. Keep everything as default.  Ensure that

   • Eda-allele-ratio-A:a = 1, 

   • mutation as unchecked, and 

   • Predator type = no predator 

2. Record the Complete-plated (%), Low-plated (%), and Total # of fish in year 0

3. Run the model for 30 years. To speed up, drag the model speed bar toward the right. 

4. Record the Complete-plated (%), Low-plated (%), and Total # of fish in year 30

5. Repeat steps 1-4 with Predator type = predatory fish and then predatory insects.

6. Repeat steps 1-5 with mutation checked

7. Examine the results. How can you explain them? If necessary, click the Model Info bar to learn about the model rules.
