COVID-19 Pandemic

Use the model to explore the herd immunity threshold in the following scenarios and answer the question: 

For the same type of virus, does the same herd immunity threshold apply to communities with different population densities? 

1) In a community with a crowded population (population density = 0.5)  infected by a highly transmissible virus (transmission rate = 60%). What is the lowest vaccination rate that maintains max daily cases below 5?

2) In a community with a less crowded population (population density = 0.25)  infected by the same virus (transmission rate = 60%). What is the lowest vaccination rate that maintains max daily cases below 5?

Procedures:

1. Set up the model based on the settings in scenario 1. 

2. Choose a vaccination rate and confirm it using the vaccination button.

3. Run the model and check the Max daily cases. 

4. Repeat steps 1-3 until the Max daily cases are below 5. Then, run 4-5 more trials to ensure consistent results. 

5. Repeat steps 1-4 for scenario 2. How different are the two herd immunity thresholds?
