The Traffic Enforcement Unit was established as a specialisation for patrol Deputies in the 20th Century, when motor vehicles spiked in popularity and ease of access. Since then, the specialisation has evolved to be a specific, dedicated Unit, with Deputies committed to ensure road safety by means of enforcing traffic violations.
The Traffic Enforcement Unit manages all matters of road safety and security: the Unit enforces traffic violations, including but not limited to, parking violations, speeding, and other reckless driving offenses; and the Unit also manages traffic control for larger scenes.
