The regular Sheriff's Deputy comprise ninety-five percent of the Ada County Sheriff's Office workforce.
Regular Sheriff's Deputies are full-time employees of the Sheriff's office, with a weekly quota requirement of two hours; regular Deputies can specialise into divisions and sub-divisions, and can promote through all ranks.

The Sheriff's Reserve Program is the Ada County Sheriff's Office's way to allow for civilians to join the Office part-time, meaning without specific quota requirements, with the caveat that Sheriff's Reserve Deputies cannot promote beyond the Deputy rank.
As of the 20th March, 2026, the Sheriff's Reserve Program is only in place for what the Sheriff's Office considers, "Honoured Members."
