This research explores the concept of parentification and its impact on children and youth. It demonstrates that parentification results in similar social, emotional, and psychological outcomes as other forms of childhood trauma and abuse and essentially constitutes a form of intergenerational trauma.

2P. Honour Killings In Jordan: Observing the Phenomenon Through a Human Rights Lens

Honour killings are considered a cultural and religious practice. Consequently, it is difficult to determine if outside intervention should be considered cultural imperialism, or if the practice should be deemed a human rights violation. My research has determined that this practice does violate multiple, universally accepted, human rights.

5P. Polygamy: Culture at the Expense of Human Rights
Heather Burns
This project aims to present the harm polygamy poses to women and their human rights by examining evidence collected by researchers to prove that women suffer from lower qualities of life, human rights abuses, and inequality and thus this practice should be condemned regardless of its cultural significance.

6P. Fearing the Facts: Neighbourhood Disorder and Your Community
Grace Nunn
My research identified the public health consequences of neighbourhood disorder in diverse urban communities. Specifically, it examined the correlations between neighbourhood disorder and sociological, mental public health, and criminological outcomes. Findings were translated into a fact sheet for the city of Brantford.

This project was a paper exploring how using body worn camera (BWC) footage can be beneficial or detrimental for a case as evidence, using R v Manner, 2020 ABPC 10, as a case study reference, in which the use of BWC footage was detrimental to the arresting officers testimony in a voir dire for evidence in the case.

This research project, created for HS206, was intended to learn more about the common genetic disease known as haemochromatosis type I. Research was conducted on the genetic basis, symptoms, diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis of the disease. This poster was created to summarize the information gathered about this genetic disease.

Research shows that EVs contain a unique genetic and non-genetic information profile, which suggests that EVs have potential values in forensics. Presently, EV-based forensics is an untapped area in forensic science. In this research, we study and evaluate EV properties for potential applications in forensic science.

This poster, inspired by the AIDS quilt, explains the results of a literature review and subsequent archival research that I have conducted on the subject of roles played by lesbians in response to the AIDS crisis. Material suggests that these contributions were meaningful, but new primary research is needed.
