Title: Marijuana Use and Addiction Among Thai Teenagers Seeking Treatment in Hospitals: Implications for Public Health Interventions.
The sample consisted of 100 males and 100 females, who gave consent to have their cases reported to the study. Three physicians (a person qualified to practice medicine) conducted interviews with the teenagers to collect data on their marijuana use, physical and mental health issues, and addiction status.
Findings
The study found that a significant number of teenagers reported using marijuana on a daily basis and were addicted to its use. They also reported both physical and mental health issues that they attributed to their marijuana use.
These findings underscore (to underscore something is to call attention to it ) the need for targeted interventions and support for Thai teenagers who use marijuana, particularly those who are addicted and experiencing negative health consequences. Healthcare professionals, educators, and parents should work together to provide education and resources to help teenagers understand the risks and consequences of marijuana use, as well as strategies for addressing addiction and related health issues.
Note:
Future research can build on this study to further investigate the prevalence and impact of marijuana use among Thai teenagers, and to identify effective interventions for addressing this important public health issue.
