A warm welcome to you, reader, to the Binding of Isaac: Absolution Guide! This website is dedicated to tracking all major changes made to the vanilla game, as well as any additional content currently implemented or planned to be in the future. As the author of both this page and the official mod(s), I would like to extend my gratitude to those of who you have taken the time to check my little project out; I hope you enjoy, and feel free to leave any and all suggestions or feedback on the mod pages!
Pardon our Dust:
Please ignore any unfinished pages and/or missing information on this site, if you can; nearly all of this project was undertaken by a single author, and discretion would be appreciated! If you find any glaring issues - such as bugs in the mod, lost or broken links and descriptions, and the like - please make me aware on the official mod pages!
What is Absolution?
This project is a collection of mods that I have created to act as a spiritual successor to a previous release, known as Awakening. It originally launched as a single, pre-release package in 2020, but work was slow and difficult to balance with work and my personal life. In the time since, as a solo developer, I have been refining my spriting and artwork techniques, knowledge on LUA coding and API utilization, and general sense of what makes a decent mod. I have ported over many of my favorite features from previous works, while simultaneously improving upon them and brining new content to the table.
In its current state, the mods primarily feature new content - from passive collectibles, trinkets, and pickups. These are designed to give a "Vanilla +" feel so it can fit seamlessly in a standard playthrough. There is a slew of planned additions in the future, including a complete overhaul!Â
The Absolution project was inspired by a number of sources, from fellow mod authors who gave their works to the community, to streamers and content creators who regularly play the game, to other works of fiction and media that I felt may translate well to the game. Some of my personal favorite mods include:
Revelations by Sentinel
AB+ Sprite Overhaul by Gummy
Community Remix Remix by piber
Ipecac Community Mod by pedroff_1
I would also like to make a formal statement that there was no intentional direct copying of other mod creations, however I am aware that a number of additions I have provided may exist similarly in other works (such as item names or functionality). Lastly, I have utilized a number of unused files within vanilla Isaac that were formed to my needs, which other members of the community may have also done.
I would like to extend my utmost gratitude to the following members of the TBoI community:
-Black Skeleton (aka Demons) for helping create a unique music pack for the full release!
-Mawosic (aka Marcy) for helping create entire sprite sheets for characters!
-All of our gracious play testers!
-All users who helped create and maintain the LUA and Isaac API documentation, such as Wofsauge.
-All users who have created guides and tutorials for creating Isaac mods, such as Lytebringr.
-Wofsauge, Monwil, and all other Discord users who helped bug fix and clean up my code during developement.
-Olexa, who agreed to create the first early-stages review for the original pre-release (LINK).
-Lazy Mattman, who created an honest review for the second pre-release (LINK).
-N4meless24, who created a blind review of an early version of the Dark Magics modular pack (LINK).
And of course, you, the player! Without the community's support on my previous works, this project would have never existed. My deepest thanks goes to those of you who have continued to show love and have given feedback to my creations!
