It's post April 15th and I have issues with my return and need to speak to someone.
All hope is not lost:
Below are some common post season issues and your best approach for resolution.
If you still need to contact us, please call our support line at 252-497-7862 and leave a message with your: Name, Phone Number and brief explanation of the issue.
A volunteer will get back to you as soon as possible.
I haven't received my refund - how do I find out where it is?
First, calling us will not help. We confirm that all returns are submitted and accepted by the IRS and state(s) as part of our quality control process. If we discover a return has not been accepted (i.e. rejected), we will contact you directly to resolve the issue. Other than confirming the date the return was accepted, we cannot provide any additional information.
The IRS and North Carolina Department of Revenue have websites you can use to find the status of your return/refund, as well as phone numbers you can call. See contact information below.
I received a letter from the IRS or NCDOR - what do I do?
There are many reasons for the IRS or NCDOR to send you a letter. We are limited in what assistance we can provide, which is mostly to attempt to clarify the reason for the letter. You can contact us on the support line listed above.
It may be that you'll have to contact the IRS or NCDOR directly to get a definitive explanation. See contact information below.
I received/found additional document(s) which weren't included on my return.
You will be required to file an amendment to the IRS and/or NCDOR. If we processed the original return, we can help with that. You will need to contact us on the support line listed above. We will arrange to meet with you to generate and e-file the amendment.
Please note: if we did not prepare the original return, we can not assist you.
I missed the deadline for filing and I need someone to process and file my return.
Unfortunately, due to the unavailability of volunteers during the off season, we are generally unable to assist with processing new returns. You may contact us to see if it would be possible, but we must have at least two volunteers to process a return and with summer vacations, that is not always possible. You can contact us on the support line listed above.
