My Husband David and I wanted to do something to help the NHS as they were doing so much to help so many people. SO we decided to shave our heads to raise money ! We raised nearly £40,000 for the NHS Charities appeal (not quite as much as Sir Tom but we were still very pleased indeed as our initial target had been £10,000). We are great Gloucester Rugby fans so we dressed up in Cherry and White and did the deed! We thought it would be quite easy and you could just put a razor cutter through long hair but you can't! David had to take the first bit of my hair off with kitchen scissors!!
We were helped by so many people as Mark Cummings interviewed us, we were in the Wilts and Gloucester Standard ( 23/4) and we were on ITV News West (19/4) . The attached is a speeded up video clip of David cutting my hair, me with my Gloucester rugby cap once the deed was done, and the picture that was in the Wilts and Gloucester standard.

Apt Dance and Theatre Company, an inclusive group of dancers, thrive in the sharing of a physical space when creating work in our weekly sessions. This was lost during COVID-19 but our creativity continued in an online platform. Moving together online supported our sense of still being a company however the opportunity to share our work with others was missing, something which forms a huge part of our philosophy which is to create, educate, share and inspire.
Our ‘Apt in Lockdown’ video enabled our love of dancing together to be maintained as well as being a creative outlet for our feelings and experiences in this time period. It acknowledged our isolation but also a determination to continue as a collective. Themes that emerged through movement symbolised the distance we felt but also a need to connect and create a sense of togetherness. To feel resistance but also the promise of restoration and hope.

At the park where my children normally play the noise of the wind in the barrier tape added an extra level of pathos to the empty skate park. Our dog (in the background) was cheerfully oblivious and the boys swapped scooting for a game of ‘get Dad’ (just audible in the video) so we found fun despite lockdown.
