Chapter Review
Circulatory System: moves blood throughout the body. It provides oxygen, and nutrients to the muscles, tissues, and organs in the body and also removes waste from cells and organs.
heart, blood, vessels
Respiratory System: is for gas exchange; breathing in oxygen (to provide oxygen to the cells) and breathing out carbon dioxide (removal of waste).
nose, trachea, lungs
Muscular System: is for movement, posture and balance. Muscles can be voluntary (e.g., moving arms and fingers) or involuntary (e.g., pumping of heart).
muscles
Digestive System: breaks down food into usable nutrients. Functions include absorption of nutrients, removal of waste from the body mouth, esophagus, stomach, intestines.
Vocabulary Words: structures, functions, systems, organs, heart, blood, vessels, nose, trachea, lungs, brain, spinal cord, nerves, mouth, esophagus, stomach, intestines, bones, muscles, oxygen, carbon dioxide, voluntary muscles, involuntary muscles, nutrients, compare, similarities, differences, waste.
Concepts
Compare and contrast human body systems
Know the function of body parts and systems.
