Prof. Eric Liou is an associate professor in the Graduate Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Science, Chang Gung University and DentWay International Dental Hospital, Taipei, Taiwan. He completed his DDS degree from College of Dentistry, Taipei Medical University and Master of Science degree from Graduate Institute of University of Illinois, Chicago. He is currently the Editor-in-Chief of APOS Trends in Orthodontics, the ECM of The World Federation of Orthodontists, and the IPP of Asian Pacific Orthodontic Society.
He has received 16 awards and honors, including the recipient of the 100 Most-cited Articles in Orthodontics, endorsed by Angle Orthodontics; and the World’s Top 25 Scientists with carrier-long (1960~) and single year impacts in 2020, 2021, and 2022 jointly published by Elsevier BV and Stanford University. He was also the recipient of the 2023 Paul Herren Award.
His main clinical and research interests are TADs, orthodontic tooth movement, surgical and non-surgical innovative approaches for canting, facial asymmetry, class III Malocclusion in growing or non-growing patients, treatment for cleft and lip palate, and craniofacial anomalies. Prof. Eric Liou has numerous presentations especially on the topics of Class III or cleft lip and palate and craniofacial anomalies orthognathic camouflage treatment, treatment of occlusal can and facial asymmetry with ying-yang archwires, maxillary orthopedic protraction, surgery-first orthognathic approach, and TADs.
