Malalas Blog

Malala is willing to risk her life for education. She is willing to do this because she saw the light. She saw that other girls could go to school freely and said to herself: Why cant I be like them. She knows the danger but "It is better to live like a lion for a day than like a slave for 100 years" -Malala. It is very important for girls to have an education in Pakistan because "When you don’t get an education, your life is very much controlled by others. " -Malala. This means without education, girls would be used as slaves and not see what its like in the outside world.

The similarities between Malala and Plato's Allegory of the cave is the plot. The girls with no education are the prisoners that only see the shadows. The shadows are what they know as no education, listening only to the Taliban, and looking up to men as if they have more rights. "Women are illiterate, the only window that is open is the radio." -Mullah. Malala is the one prisoner in the story that gets set free. She realizes what everyone can achieve and how unfair the world is.Unlike the story, when she goes to tell the other prisoners, she is embraced and respected. "Sometimes you have to choose to be silent or stand up" -Malala.
