Weekly reflection

9/7: 1

This week we were introduced to Onshape. It was very confusing at first because I didn't do any tutorials yet so I messed around and half the functions that I tried didn't work. We also decided on our name team logo which took days of revision because it didn't seem perfect. We also worked on our website and the only picture I had of me on my phone was me in a unicorn outfit so I used it for the website.

9/13: 2

This week seemed to go by pretty fast without a Monday to group up with our house. It was also kind of boring because you have to learn how to use on shape before anything else and it just takes time to get through. I am almost done with lesson 3 of the course which was the longest by far. The hardest part for me was the coffee cup because I couldn't figure out how to do the handle in class. But after going home and looking at it more I got it. We also got our website done and it looks amazing on Wix. Overall it was an eventful but long week and I can't wait to start working with the machines.

blog 3 9/20 This week was very eventful. On Monday we met and discussed plans for the week. Tuesday was the first house joust and wow was it not good. I know exactly what our problem was. We simply didn't work together. If everyone was a little less stubborn on what they thought was the best was to go about it and listened to the lord, we could have had a shot at 1st place. Instead there wasn't a lot of communication, people were working off to the side, and we never really decided on a design. Then some of us gave up as others kind of took over and did it by themselves. We will work it out eventually but we definitely need to be more organized. Then Thursday we worked on the laser tutorials. I couldn't get it done because I didn't have any headphones. But that's what the weekends for...

blog 4 9/ 27 This week I got more familiar with the procedures of the Laser cutter. I learned how to import files from inkscape and bit mapping so I could engrave anything I want to. I started to work on sunglasses but in inkscape it is pretty hard to do. I passed my safety test this week to so I helped people get stuff cut. We also had to pick a new team leader which was Casper and he seems to know what hes doing. We started to make a knew website to start fresh again and I am exited to get to work and make stuff

blog 5 10/5 This week me and Gavin started to make some sunglasses. He made it in inkscape and kind of rushed the process a little bit but they still came out cool. Im taking a little more time on my sunglasses or "clout goggles". Its going pretty well, I designed them deleted it and designed it again until I was happy with the shape of them. Then I took so much time trying to get the sketch from onshape to a pdf. At first I saw you could only export a part. So I extruded it and tried to export it. It only came out as a lot of coding. Then I went and asked a bunch of people and they said just do it in inkscape. So finally I saw and option to make a drawing. Once it was a drawing it was so easy to export I was kicking myself for not remembering about drawings in Onshape. So next week I will get my shades cut and out style Gavin.

blog 6 10/10 This week I put the final touched on my design and made the cut. It took me a minute to figure out the stroke colors but it looked really good when it came out. I then started working on the arms and looked for a color for the lenses. I was going to cut them out too but too many people were in front of me and I didn't have time. I will hopefully come in on Friday to do it. Other than that I started to think about making a puzzle. I would get a picture of a blank puzzle. Then I would add a picture of something like a cartoon character and engrave it onto the puzzle. It seems like a good idea but I need to finish my Clout 2.0 glasses first.

blog 7 10/18 This week I cut out the lenses and the arms for my clout goggles. I am working on making or just ordering some very small hinges for the arms. I also started my project which will be a clock with 3 different colors in a triangle pattern and the I in Imerium In the center. I don know if I will make it with the mechanical mechanisms, just a gear clock that spins when you want it to, or just buy the mechanic part and attach it to the back. I don want to do that unless I run out of time. I am pretty confident that I could somehow make a mechanism that makes the clock work.

blog 8 11/1 This week I cut out hinges for my sunglasses but they are very small and I don't know how I can put them together. I also worked on my clock design and am working on how to get the design of my clock and the I of Imperium on it as well. Meanwhile I've decides to start working on it from inkscape at my house because I don't have time to do it here. I will just take way to long and I decided to take my time at home to just figure it out.

blog 9 11/8 Because of inspiration, I decided to make a wave. I saw a picture online and it gave me inspiration and I liked it. Since I didn't have very muck material I decided to make the pieces staggered and apart from one another. First I cut out the wave pieces to fit the base vertical but not horizontally. It didn't fit so I tried sanding it down. But I sanded it too much. After that I decided to make the base fit horizontally with the waves. It fit perfectly. I realize when you look at it there is a sense of confusion but later in the year if I get time I will do it with little space.

blog 10 11/15 This week we have the house joust and I think we are off to a good start. I would have liked us to focus more on the actual time instead of just the style and smoothness of the track. Right now we are at about 30 seconds. Its not bad but considering the time it took to actually make it i think we we will struggle to hit 60 seconds. What we need to do is have a board that goes back and forth which takes a lot of time for the marble to go down

blog 11 11/22 I wasn't at the house joust because I was sick but I can say everyone worked hard and it payed off in the end. We used a board to let the marble roll for along time at the end and made sure it wasn't going to loose speed and stop mid way. This house joust was a good way to test how well we worked together and I think we are improving as of the beginning of the year. We had our ups and downs but we were determined to get through them and at least do better than last time. Also just not argue for the whole time about what we should do, and we fixed it from last time too. Can't wait to start propaganda and make some cool stickers!

blog 12 11/29 This week we started propaganda and I passed the cannon and vinyl cutter test. We also learned how to silk screen the t shirts. After we all tried it it seemed pretty fun and easier than expected. Though we did mess up a little bit on a few of them I think they will be cool anyway. I like the ocean blue color too it really adds a better effect than just black on white. A want to make a t shirt design of like a dragon with sunglasses and the d tech logo in the back ground. I'll need to pass my silkscreen test next and then start making propaganda.

Blog 13 12/6 This week week was kind of frustrating because I couldnt get my squidward drawing to have thicker stroke sizes on ink scape. I did make this snow man though instead. I think its pretty cool for my first sticker. I also want to make ano octopus because a can]me up with a good design.

blog 14 12/13 I made an octopus sticker but there weren't any computers available to put into inkscape and cut out. So I have another good idea.... Innovate to create stickers because Imperium really stresses that an it would be cool if we could have something like that. I also have an idea about a long sleeve black shirt and have the imperium word on the front big on the sleeve so like white on black. I think it would look really clean and good.

blog 15 1/10 This week we put our logo on the back of our shirts. It looks really clean and the place we put it looks really good. Now I for sure know how to use the heat press to press shirts. I also tried to finish my octopus and cut it but the file wasn't on the computer anymore. I don't know if I didn't save it properly or what but I couldn't print it because all the computers with inkscape were taken. Then I had a great idea about the innovate to create stickers! but all the computers were taken with inkscape.... :( so ill just do it on my computer over the weekend because I really want some of those stickers

blog 16 1/17 At my house this weekend I designed a shirt for our motto "Innovate To Create". Then I cut it and pressed it on a plain white shirt. I really like it and would where it in public. I also wanted to make a shirt with a really scuffed version. iNnOvAtE tO cReAtE with really bad font like a 4 year old wrote it. We make fun of our motto a lot anyways and it would just be cool for the memes. But and I never had time because the seniors were using the vinyl cutter so Ill do it after finals!

blog 17 1/31 With the house joust presenting a simple but complicated task. I know they wanted something easier to take samples but if the swells are big enough holding a metal pole with 2 hands 10 feet from the breaks not going to be much easier. At least in my opinion. We had so many ideas about a mechanism to close the bag and stuff but then found out it would be way harder than we thought. But most of the other houses look like they're in the same boat as us so we shall see.

I think we did pretty good at the house joust. Cant help but feel there was some slight favoritism for zenith because of zen and Mr Li. Besides that I think we need a house joust kind of like the first one with a limited supplies and limited time. It could also be worth more to win. For example, winner gets donuts or something because it fells like if the joust is only used to decide the next station then there is not a lot to work for. Keeping in mind that you will do all of the stations anyway. Or since we were told about the sauced principle the winner gets some sort of rule over the other houses or Miller and can punish them. (Just an idea)
