GPA Criteria
In order to participate in the promotion, 8th graders must have a 2.0 GPA semester 2, which is a combination of Quarter 3 and Quarter 4. This means you will need to add the two terms and divide by 2 in order to calculate the final semester 2 GPA.
Example:
It is a April and you are trying to determine what GPA you need quarter 4 in order to walk in the ceremony. GPA for Quarter 3 was a 1.8. In order to participate in the ceremony you would need 2.2 quarter 4.
1.8 (Quarter 3) + 2.2 (Quarter 4) = 4
4/2= 2
Advice: Keep GPA for all quarters at or above a 2.0 to minimize promotion risk. Speak to your counselor immediately after the first semester if you are still struggling academically.
