Palmer Drug Abuse Program Ventura County
As a “non-residential adolescent treatment program” PDAP provides skilled and experienced Addiction Treatment Counselors to meet with youth individually and in small groups weekly. Many of these kids are considered high-risk because of various traumas they have experienced. In some cases, abuse and neglect have caused them to be removed from their families and placed in foster care or group homes. In the counseling relationship they are listened to and encouraged to feel safe in sharing whatever they are feeling and thinking. Over time, they begin to consider changes they want to make and personal goals they are ready to set, moving themselves toward new behaviors and experiences. These include reducing and stopping the use of alcohol and drugs, seeking help to catch up on school work, improving their communication with parents or guardians and fulfilling the terms of court or probation requirements.
