The Pod Squad started the 2015-16 school year with a group of three independent study course students and three staff who were dedicated, creative, and intent on learning new skills. Our inaugural group set the bar high for the new program at Ocean Lakes High School.
In 2019-2020, the group grew to include service block opportunties so that students could support Chromebooks and 3D printers.
The help desk students are enrolled in an independent study course. Students work closely with the TST (technology support technician) to provide technical support, and they work closely with the ITSs (instructional technology specialists) to provide technology integration assistance to the student body and instructional staff. These students split their time between the TST office (room 101) and the ITS office (library).

Both service block opportunities require students to help students as needed. The service block takes the place of a study/free block. Completed applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Chromebook support team members are enrolled in a service block in room 101. This group was formed when the OLHS 1:1 device rollout during the 2018-19 school year. Their mission is to provide face-to-face, on-demand technical support for student Chromebooks.
The 3D printer support team members are enrolled in a service block located in the library makerspace. These students were recruited to conduct 3D printer trainings, create basic tutorials, schedule print jobs, and provide basic maintenance for the 3D printers.
We would like to thank the members of the Burlington High School Help Desk for inspiring Ocean Lakes High School to start a student-run help desk. Please visit their site at bhshelpdesk.com/.
