General Support

Personal Tutoring

Every student at UWS will have access to a Personal Tutor from within their academic school who will provide academic, pastoral and generic academic support and guidance to enhance the student’s ability to successfully complete their studies.

Scottish Campuses only

During Welcome Week, all students will be allocated a Personal Tutor. For returning students this may be the same one you have had previously or you may be allocated someone new. This is usually a lecturer from your course who can offer you support and guidance with your studies.

To find out who your personal tutor is, go to your self serve banner.

Your Personal Tutor will set up a meeting in the early part of Term 1, and thereafter you should meet at least once per term and maintain regular communication.

How can I find out who my personal tutor is?

If you do have any issues, you should contact your Personal Tutor as soon as possible rather than wait until your next scheduled meeting.

You can check the name of your Personal Tutor in the Self Service Banner System, which you can access by clicking the My Student Record tile in the UWS Student App

Studiosity

In addition to the support offered by our own Academic Skills Team, UWS has partnered with Studiosity to offer students access to 24/7 assignment feedback. Get fast, ethical feedback on your draft or before you submit your assignment, either via live chat or by uploading your draft assignment for same-day feedback on what’s working well, and where to improve

English Language Support

To cater for the needs of international students whose native language might not be English, we offer pre-sessional courses which will enable you to meet the English language entry requirements to enrol on a programme at UWS, or to prepare you for study elsewhere in the UK.

The University also offers in-sessional English language support for all students studying on its degree programmes.
