Day one to 1 November
Initial meeting with your college counselor if planning to study law or medicine, or if you have questions about course selection
Translation and certification of former high school transcript (if applicable)
Regularly review the calendar of in person and virtual visits. Plan to attend as many as possible as you explore your options.
Get involved and try new activities
Log in to Maia Learning account and take the Interest Profiler
Give yourself time to adjust to IBDP, teachers, classmates, roommates, life at UWCEA
Don't be afraid to ask for help
December
Informal first meeting with your college counselor by the end of the first semester
Take the Work Values assessment in Maia Learning
Take time to reflect on how your first semester of IBDP went, and make goals for what you want to accomplish in next semester
D1 Semester 2
January
Plan to try new activities
Take the Personality Profile assessment in Maia Learning
Work on your resume/CV

Take the Learning and Productivity Assessment in Maia
Research summer/ enrichment opportunities
Schedule your first official meeting with your college counselor

Begin to apply for summer/ enrichment opportunities
Plan for college entrance testing and activities for the long break

Consider and select your college criteria and post in the Journal section of Maia Learning
Begin college research based on your college criteria
Apply for summer opportunties

Use Uni Spreadsheet to record research on your colleges
Create your 'Considering List' of colleges in Maia Learning
Request Teacher Recommendations through Maia Learning if your teacher is leaving this academic year; complete Brag Sheet
Second meeting with your college counselor to review your college considering list and assessment data before break
June
Complete Guidelines and Expectations Form
Talk with your parents about finances
Submit transfer transcripts (if you had to wait to return home to secure them)
Start your Common App account and UCAS application depending on where you want to apply
July/August
Focus on volunteering, internship, job shadowing experiences, or summer program experiences related to your intended major/program or career field

Finalize list of Teacher Recommenders and ask for recommendations in Maia Learning
Send a draft of the personal statement, personal essay, letter of motivation to your college counselor for review
Update your resume/CV
Prepare for admission interviews
Regularly review the calendar of in person and virtual visits. Plan to attend relevant events as you finalize your options.
Make final decision about whether or not you are applying early (application deadline on or before 1 December)

Review scholarships, and inform your college counselor if you would like to be considered for any that require a nomination from the school.

Finalize Personal Statement, essays, letter and other supplemental essays, if ED/EA by Oct 5
Complete Common App or UCAS application materials, if ED/EA to US or Cambridge/Oxford in UK by Oct 5

Teacher reference contributions are due for UCAS by January 15th
Prepare application materials for Canadian universities, see your college counselor for uploading materials
Complete CSS Profile or ISFAF form and submit to universities
February
Finalize Canadian university application materials
Complete CSS Profile or ISFAF form and submit to universities
Review European open dates for admission applications
March
Prepare for admission Interviews
Submit portfolio work, if requested
Complete internal scholarship information for Canadian universities
April
Review and compare admission offers and make a decision to initiate the I-20 form and visa process if attending the US, Canada, and UK
Prepare application materials to most European universities
May
US application deadline is May 1 for making a decision. Recommended Canadian and UK decisions are made by this date if appropriate
Complete visa requirements and make a visa appointment at your local Embassy to ensure you can get an appointment within a reasonable timeframe to when you are expected on campus
