FROG Form is undergoing a rework T_T
As you observe experienced and new tutors, Laura will sometimes give you look-fors or takeaways. These are specific things to “look for” as you shadow other tutors during a session. Focus on the following then observing and then use the FROG Form to record your observations and thoughts:
Observation 1: Pay attention to how the tutor starts the session (the first few minutes). Did you notice a structure or organization? How did the tutor lead the conversation?
Observation 2: What’s the goal or objective of this session? Is it implicit or explicit? Does the student agree? Is this objective met at the end of the session? Is it mentioned at the end of the session?
Observation 3: What questions does the tutor ask? Are they open ended? Does the tutor allow enough time for the student to think and answer? About how much of the session does the tutor talk (percent)?
Observation 4: How does the tutor end the session? Is it abrupt? Do they signal the end about 5-10 minutes out? Do they summarize the big points of the conversation? Do they send the student with a resource and a list of next steps?
